Craftsmanship You Can Trust

Hi, I'm Becky, the owner of Stitches in the Fishbowl, LLC in beautiful Colfax, Washington.
My love for sewing started early on our family wheat and cattle ranch in Eastern Washington. As the oldest of seven children, I'd sneak scraps from the trash while my siblings napped and teach myself to make doll clothes on my mom's sewing machine. At just seven years old, I boldly chose a "too-hard" pattern at JC Penney's with darts, facings, and a zipper. With my mom's reluctant blessing and plenty of frustrated tears, I spent months making my first sleeveless top - and proudly wore it until it no longer fit. I was hooked for life.
I sewed mountains of Barbie clothes and most of my own outfits through junior high and high school, plus clothes for my sisters. My older cousin, the Home Ec teacher, was always encouraging my growing skills. I even took my sewing machine with me to nursing school.

This September marks 50 years as a nurse - first as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1976, then as a Registered Nurse since 1990. I've worked at local hospitals for 37 years while dabbling in raising cattle, sheep, and chickens on the farm and staying active as a triathlete with Team Blaze in Spokane for nearly 20 years. I also earned my CDL to drive a semi-truck (my brother said it was easy - it definitely wasn't!). Sewing has always been my joyful constant through it all.
Today, I've stepped back to half-time nursing so I can spend more time as a "Domestic Goddess" and share my decades of experience. With a Gammill longarm quilting machine and six sewing machines in my studio, I offer careful, quality services including longarm quilting, clothing construction, tailoring, alterations, repairs, and custom sewing.
I love learning new things and doing activities that bring purpose and pleasure. I'd love to help you finish a quilt, rescue a favorite garment, or bring a new project to life with the personal touch of someone who's been stitching for nearly five decades.
